Once operational, the NeuConnect interconnector will connect the GB and German electricity systems for the first time, offering 1400MW of capacity, and allowing the market to trade electricity between Germany and Great Britain.
NeuConnect will facilitate non-discriminatory, fair and transparent access to capacity through a range of standardised auctioned products, detailed in Access Rules which are compliant with the relevant regulations.
NeuConnect is starting to look ahead to the start of trial operations towards the end of 2027 and full operations in 2028, and has begun putting in place key systems to ensure that market participants can purchase and use its capacity. This includes an agreement with JAO to become NeuConnect’s provider for auctioning cross-border transmission capacity; and the appointment of Supercharge as NeuConnect’s Market Integration Platform provider.
In due course, NeuConnect will begin engaging with potential customers to register their interest in receiving updates on the project, and to express their interest in future trading opportunities. This page will be updated with further information on trading, auctions and technical details for customers shortly.
In the meantime, customers can also view the progress of the NeuConnect project on the main ‘News’ page here, and on NeuConnect’s LinkedIn page here.
