NeuConnect welcomes Inspiring Girls Germany initiative to Hamburg

July 30, 2026

In March 2026, NeuConnect delivered the second phase of its Inspiring Girls initiative. Hosted at Gymnasium Farmsen in Hamburg, the event brought together role models from NeuConnect, Artelia, Prysmian and Siemens Energy, who travelled from across Germany and work on NeuConnect’s Wilhelmshaven construction site.

More than 40 girls aged 15 to 17 from the school’s STEM pathway took part in the session. With girls making up just 30% of the wider science cohort, the importance of the event was clear.

The day featured a panel discussion with female role models from a range of professional backgrounds. The girls had the opportunity to ask about their motivations for working in STEM, what they enjoyed most about their roles and what advice they would give to young women interested in pursuing a career in the sector. Another highlight of the 90-minute session was an interactive activity focused on solving a real-world challenge: how to make a converter station more sustainable.

The Inspiring Girls initiative was supported by NeuConnect in both the UK and Germany, encouraging young women to pursue careers in STEM. A similar event took place in Rochester ahead of the German session, providing students with the opportunity to hear from female professionals working across the project and wider industry.
